McKenzie River trips

The McKenzie River is truly one of the most beautiful waterways in the west. Crystal clear waters and fabulous scenery complement a glorious day of fishing. Fish for a day, or fish different sections of the river over several days. No trip to the Willamette Valley is complete without fishing the McKenzie.

The fishing

The McKenzie is home to both rainbow and cutthroat trout. Fishing season begins in early spring with the March Brown hatch for trout, and continues through the steelhead season which ends in December. All fishing is done while casting from the boat. Rods, tackle and flies are furnished although you are welcome to bring your own. We would be happy to tie one of our specialty flies on your 4-, 5-, or 6-weight rod.

The trip

The McKenzie offers fishing for every skill level. Experienced guides offer both excellent fly fishing instruction for beginners and precision boatmanship for the accomplished angler. All are state licensed and insured. DoubleFish Outfitters offers both full- and half-day trips. You will need an Oregon fishing license and we recommend you bring rain gear, polarized glasses and a hat.

All boats carry fresh drinking water, snacks and soft drinks. Full-day trips include a traditional McKenzie fish-fry lunch with homemade salads, fresh Dutch-oven cornbread and dessert.
